13-year-old blind girl wrote a bronze page in Portuguese surfing

Marta Paço has been surfing for about two years and has as coach Tiago Prieto of SCV.

The National Team of adapted surf was present in the World Championship of the modality that took place in the beach of La Jolla, in San Diego, California.

This event was attended by 120 athletes from 24 countries, including three Portuguese surfers. Marta Paços, a blind athlete aged 13, achieved the best result, following her fantastic third place that resulted in the bronze medal for the surfer from Viana do Castelo. Already Nuno Vitorino snatched the copper medal, and Camilo Abdula finished in 13th place. The Portuguese team finished the World Cup in 12th place.

According to the Portuguese Surfing Federation, the three athletes were chosen after an internship led by national team coach Bernardo Abreu.
