“Desdobra-te” – Dance and Other Arts Festival will take place from November 22nd to 24th, in various parts of the city of Évora, and promises to break stereotypes and cross borders in the context of traditional dance (and not only!).
With the involvement of various local cultural agents and the essential support of the Évora City Council, the unfolding will become the largest PédeXumbo event in the city that has been welcoming them for 24 years. With the programming organized into two distinct groups according to its scope and target audience, both the impulses of the folk festival habitués and the daydreams of the curious will be satisfied, who because of their family context or personal taste prefer a more relaxed and comprehensive experience. Two audiences with very different characteristics will find “your festival” in Desdobra-te, but the idea is exactly what they will cross and find each other in consecutive folds and unfoldings.
There will be about 40 activities in more than 10 spaces, which from Friday to Sunday will unfold between dance workshops for beginners and for advanced, balls, thematic tours, concerts, handicraft workshops, gastronomy, shows for children. , movies and many other surprises.
Among the many other activities of the event program are the concert by Sebastião Antunes, the dances with the French Laüsa and Duo Absynthe, the numerous family-specific activities and the initiatives related to the theme of the festival; From the concept of unfolding, a series of paper-related workshops are also part of the program, where you can learn how to make origami, bookbinding or paper flowers in the style of the São Teotónio Masts Festival. The organization also proposes that participants discover the city through the “Unfold Evora” tour, where, in various surprise spaces, it will be revealed by folding and unfolding various materials with local people.
As such and with the objective of involving the local community as much as possible in this event, between this month of October and November, a group will be organized with those who want to join it! … Once a week, in Space Barns in Évora will produce origami pieces that will be used in the decoration of the “Desdobra-te“.
Thus, from 7 October and every following Monday, from 15h00 to 19h00, everyone is invited to collaborate in the construction of this festival!
