The Quercus association attributed for the bathing season of this year the classification “gold quality” to 375 Portuguese beaches, 15 less than in 2018
The Tejo and Oeste region is the region with the most attributions, 90, followed by 87 by the Algarve, the North region with 74, by council the largest number of beaches are Albufeira and Vila Nova de Gaia, both with 18, Almada and Vila of the Bishop with 13 each and Torres Vedras with 12.
The award-winning beaches are 326 are coastal, 40 are interior and nine are transitional. This year, the beach ban occurred the previous year, come to be considered.
This Quercus assessment does not involve any application process, based solely on the water quality of the beaches.
