83,000 children to be vaccinated against poliomyelitis in Mozambique

The local press reported that the Mozambican Ministry of Health has started a vaccination campaign against polio and measles in the city of Beira, Sofala province, which will cover 83,553 Mozambican children.

João Oliveira, the administrator of Beira, stated that the campaign will also include the vaccination of 371,365 children against lymphatic filariasis.

Mobile brigades were created to carry out this operation that will sensitize the populations to adhere to this important action.

The campaign will be held in health centres and in schools, markets and churches.

The city of Beira was hit hardest by March’s cyclone Idai, which killed 603 people.
