Altran invests 12 million euros in the Global Engeneeiring Center in Portugal

Altran, a global leader in engineering and research and development (R & D) services, consolidates a new milestone in its history in Portugal. The French multinational has signed an investment contract with the Portuguese government through AICEP for 12 million euros this afternoon, which will allow the creation of 260 new jobs, of which 200 highly qualified, mainly in its Global Engineering Centers.

 

Aimed at creating new direct and qualified jobs in Fundão and Vila Nova de Gaia, the new investment is part of the expansion of Altran’s Global Engineering Center and will allow the development of innovative projects around the world in the areas of Intelligent Coding ( application of Artificial Intelligence technology to processes associated with software engineering services) and Connected Things (Development of intelligent systems integration solutions targeting relevant sectors such as Automotive, Medical Devices and Connected White Goods).

 

Pedro Siza Vieira, Deputy Minister, and Economy said:Altran’s new investment is in line with the commitment to the quality of engineering, computer science that Portugal has come to fruition. We should all welcome the confidence that domestic and foreign investors have placed in our scientific and technological system and in the qualification and quality of our people.

 

Luís Castro Henriques, Chairman of the Board of AICEP, said:Altran’s new investment in the expansion of its Global Engineering Center is a clear bet on innovation and Portuguese talent. It is a project that adds value, which creates highly qualified jobs and is therefore very important for the region concerned and for the country as a whole. AICEP expects Altran to continue to invest in Portugal, providing it with all necessary support.

 

Célia Reis, CEO of Altran Portugal, added:Altran Portugal, in line with the Industrialized GlobalShore® Strategy, has continuously expanded its Global Engeneeiring Center as well as its team of highly qualified engineers over the last 6 years. Our Global Engeneeiring Center in Fundão and Vila Nova de Gaia will represent a specialized European Production Center with over 1,200 engineers, by 2021, delivering value-added projects to more than 10 countries worldwide, with a focus on France, Germany, UK, and the US, in key segments such as Automotive and MedTech.

Established at Fundão since 2013, and in Vila Nova de Gaia since 2015, Altran’s Global Engineering Center is a center of technological innovation that supports global projects, ensuring the availability of value-added solutions developed by Portuguese engineers. Altran has been present in Portugal since 1998, currently employs more than 2,300 engineers, based in Lisbon and located in Vila Nova de Gaia and Fundão.
