Amadora BD 2020 starts tomorrow with online broadcast

This year’s edition of Amadora BD – Amadora Comics Festival, adapted to the covid-19 pandemic, kicks off on Thursday, at Bedeteca da Cidade, with transmission on the event’s social networks.

This year, there will be two exhibitions, one dedicated to the Master of Comics, José Ruy, entitled ‘Do Tejo ao Fim do Mundo’, centered on trips, both real and imagined, through studies, sketches, arguments and original cartoons from author, and another, “30 + 1: A BD não faz quarentena”, in which 30 Portuguese authors, among designers and screenwriters, present works made during the quarantine or that have the pandemic as inspiration.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Amadora BD, the film “Entre Traços: 30 anos de Comic Strip” will be shown, a documentary that tells the story of the close proximity between Amadora and BD, from childhood to maturity, with a view to place of the event in the future and for new generations.

The Bedeteca da Cidade, located in the Municipal Library Fernando Piteira Santos, will also host two workshops run by It’s a Book, moderated by the comic book authors Patrícia Guimarães and Carolina Celas, conversations with the collective The Lisbon Studio, with the authors of Balada para Sophie’, Filipe Melo and Juan Cavia, André Carrilho, author of the book ‘A Menina dos Olhos Ocupados’, Ana Pessoa and Bernardo P. Carvalho, with the album ‘Desvio‘, and the releases of new editions of BD.

Amadora BD 2020 runs until November 6, at Bedeteca da Cidade.
