André Gomes named best young player in the handball Champions League

The 21-year-old left-back scored 47 goals in 14 games and was highlighted in the team’s unprecedented qualification for the round of 16, a stage in which he would face Aalborg’s Danes. The edition was eventually canceled due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Gomes overcame Alexander Blonz (Elverum Handball), Josip Sarac (RK Celje Pivovarna Lasko), Aleix Gomez (FC Barcelona) and Zoltan Szita (Orlen Wisla Plock) in the fight for the award for the best young man in the most important European club competition.

Formed at ABC, the Portuguese international arrived at FC Porto in 2017 and helped the ‘dragons’ to win a National Championship, a Portuguese Cup and a Super Cup.
