André Pires compensates for fall with fourth position

André Pires had a challenging weekend in Portimão, in the second round of the National Superbike Speed Championship.

The passage through the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve had different luck in the two races on the agenda for the first of two race weekends south of the 2020 season. The fourth position in the second race would contrast with the fall suffered on Saturday, compensating the bad luck suffered.

After starting from the fifth position on the grid, André attacked the top spots until the second lap, when he suffered the crash that dictated the abandonment in the first race.

In the second race, the driver from Vila Pouca de Aguiar returned to print a strong pace, similar to Saturday, but this time he would cross the goal in the fourth final position, saving important points in the points table.

“After taking fifth place on the starting grid, we started motivated for the first race. Unfortunately I fell on the second lap, damaging much of the bike. The team worked all night to recover from all the problems. Today we managed to get the bike ready for the warm-up session, we ran as much as possible to gain confidence and everything went well. “

“It was difficult because I wasn’t 100% and we didn’t have the material to fight for the podium places, due to the fall. We did a fourth place, very important after yesterday’s bad luck. We saved the maximum number of points and that’s the which matters, before we go on to the third race at Estoril. I want to thank all the members of the team for the work they did and especially to Motor7 Yamaha Racing, MotoDinamica and the municipality of Vila Pouca de Aguiar. ”
