The ninth edition of the Meo Sons do Mar festival will feature António Zambujo on August 30th, and the organization of the event later remembers who will take the stage to 31.
This is the ninth edition of a festival that brings together the chamber of Funchal and MEO and takes place in the Santa Catarina Park, continuing to bet on national artists as heads, and the second day is always dedicated to the younger audience.
For the first day of the festival the choice fell on António Zambujo, who will have as a special guest the fado singer Ana Moura, and will be announced soon, other guests of the artist, according to the organization, which presented today the event.
“This year we chose António Zambujo but it will not be António Zambujo alone, he will have several guests,” said Jorge Lopes, of the organization, adding that Ana Moura is the first invited to be announced.
For the second day of the festival, the organization still has the options open, because “there is the possibility of having two or three concerts on the same day”.
“It is increasingly difficult to bring differentiating projects and, in the end, we are convincing artists who are in full ‘tour’ moments who do not want to do different things,” he explained.
The mayor of Funchal, Paulo Cafôfo, said that the festival is synonymous with quality for betting on Portuguese music while being eclectic.
“We have two days that are different, but audiences are fused since nowadays young people listen to a lot of fado, an eclectic festival with a very eclectic audience and what matters to us is that there are high-quality events,” he said.
