Benfica drew, this Thursday, 3-3 at Estádio da Luz with the Scottish Rangers, match of the 3rd round of the group stage of the Europa League.
The Portuguese team even started better and benefited from Goldson’s own goal (2′) to put themselves in front of the scorer but the expulsion of Argentine central defender Otamendi, on 19 minutes, completely changed the match, played under severe weather during the first time.
Within two minutes, an own goal by Diogo Gonçalves (24’) and a goal by Kamara (26’) put Steven Gerrard’s team ahead of the scorer just before half an hour. In the second half, Colombian Morelos signed, at 51’, 3-1, with Rafa, after assistance, reduced distances to 2-3 at 77’. In the discounts, isolated by Waldschmidt, Darwin Núñez did not forgive in the face of McGregor and made it 3-3.
This draw leaves Benfica and Rangers with the shared group leadership, both with seven points, four ahead of Lech Poznan, who beat Standard Liège. On the next day, Jorge Jesus’ team will travel to Glasgow, in the November 26th.
