Billie Eilish, the alternative pop phenomenon, debuts today in Lisbon

The 17-year-old American singer Billie Eilish, a pop music phenomenon, performs today at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, in a sold-out concert.

The concert was announced last February for the Lisbon Coliseum, but soon sold out, and was moved to the Altice Arena’s Tagus Hall before it eventually filled the entire main hall.

Performed as an artist with “a unique and enigmatic style” about to become “one of the biggest stars in alternative pop,” Billie Eilish sold out the concert as she was releasing her debut album, ‘When we all fall’ asleep, where do we go? ‘

In the official biography of the singer, born in 2001, it is read that she began to dance at the age of eight and write songs at 11. In 2015, shortly before turning 14, recorded the song ‘Ocean Eyes’, written by her brother, partner of later songs.

Influenced by hip hop, inspired by names like Childish Gambino and Rihanna, Billie Eilish edited the EP “Don’t smile at me” in 2017 and the first album came out last March.

The influence with teenagers goes beyond the millions of views and listening to music on the Internet and extends, for example, to fashion, with various clothing and footwear brands wanting to associate with the singer. The artist’s official Instagram account has 36 million followers.

She has made the cover of Billboard and Rolling Stone with the titles “Rebel with Plan” and “The Triumph of Weirdos”, was photographed for Vogue and criticized the German magazine Nylon for having appeared on the front page without authorization.

The current tour, which goes through Lisbon, includes some of the songs with millions of views, such as ‘Bad Guy’, ‘Bellyache’, ‘Bitches broken hearts’, ‘Ocean eyes’ and ‘Copycat’.

The doors of the Altice Arena open at 6:30 pm and Billie Eilish’s concert is at 8:00 pm.
