Caio Lucas gives Benfica the win over Fiorentina

In the third of the referee’s three-minute rebate, the Benfiquista reinforcement ‘shot’ Dragowski, after a center from Chiquinho’s right, in a two-player play by Bruno Lage for the last 10 minutes.

Benfica maintained their UEFA Champions League triumph in football on Wednesday by beating Fiorentina 2-1 in New Jersey thanks to a goal by Brazilian Caio Lucas to end.

In the third of the referee’s three-minute rebate, the Benfiquista reinforcement ‘shot’ Dragowski, after a center from Chiquinho’s right, in a two-player play by Bruno Lage for the last 10 minutes.

“The goal was very important as it was the first, and I’m happy to be helping the team. This competition is important to prepare the team for the season,” said Caio Lucas, dedicating the triumph to the Benfica supporters.

With Zlobin and Rafa instead of Vlachodimos and Caio Lucas, compared to the ‘eleven’ of three days ago with Chivas, Benfica got into the game, very pressing and scored after nine minutes by Seferovic, who touched a pass from left of Raul of Thomas.

The ‘reds’ had a great opportunity in the 24th minute to reach the second, this time with the Swiss centering from the left and the Spaniard firing first-time loose for Terracciano’s great save.

Betting more on the counterattack, Fiorentina eventually leveled out on 29 minutes when Vlahovic fired a shot from the edge of the box into the front corner, sending the ball past Rúben Dias’s legs and into the left post.

Until the break, the biggest protagonist was RDT, who missed several opportunities, namely on 34, 37 and 43 minutes, in the last two because, isolated, badly dominated the ball.

The second half, with Svilar instead of Zlobin in the ‘red’ goal, practically started with a scandalous Benassi failure, who, with no one in front, shot over on 48 minutes after Vlahovic’s shot to the left post.

Fiorentina was the first to threaten, but Benfica was always more dangerous and shot in the second half, lacking effectiveness, notably in the initiatives of Rafa, at 54 and 64 minutes, Taarabt, at 77, and Jota, at 86.

The ‘reds’ ended up being awarded practically in the last play of the match, with Seferovic serving Chiquinho on the right, and this being the center-back into the area, where Caio Lucas appeared without a chance for Dragowski.
