European speed kayaking, table tennis, beach volleyball and climbing in 2022 will be played in Munich, in the second edition of concentrated continental competitions, which will bring together nine sports, the organization announced today.
These modalities join the event, which will take place between 11 and 21 August 2022, athletics, cycling, gymnastics, rowing and triathlon, which were already confirmed.
Swimming and golf were excluded from the competition program, which, even so, has the participation of about 4,400 athletes from 50 countries, competing for 158 European titles.
The Olympic Park in Munich will be the ‘heart’ of this event, in a year celebrating 50 years of the Munich Olympics1972.
The first edition of the multisport Europeans took place in 2018, with competitions in 13 sports, 12 in Glasgow, Scotland, and athletics in Berlin.
At the time, Portugal won four medals, two gold, won by Nelson Évora in the triple jump and Inês Henriques in the 50 kilometers of march, and two silver, by the twins Ivo and Rui Oliveira in the individual pursuit and elimination in track cycling, respectively.
