Canon bets on two new mirrorless cameras and 8K recording

The Canon EOS R5 and EOS R6 are two mirrorless full-frame cameras that complete a wide portfolio that Canon has been developing, with a machine for each type of user.

More professional, the EOS R5 is the first mirrorless full-frame to record internally in 8K RAW, achieving up to 29.97fps, also making 4K video up to 120p, but the EOS R6 presents an excellent compromise for those who want to evolve, with images of 20, 1 megapixel at 20fps, 4K video capture up to 60p and Full HD up to 120p.

The two cameras share much of the technology that Canon has developed in this area, with the DIGIC X processor. The CMOS sensor and electronic shutter in total silence, with automatic exposure (AE) and automatic focus (AF).

The shutter speed, with a first mechanical and electronic curtain of continuous high-speed shooting, and the built-in 5-axis image stabilization is one of the differentiating elements, dispensing in many cases the use of gimbals and ensuring greater freedom of movement in the capture without losing quality.

The level of connectivity to the EOS R5 supports Wi-Fi 5GHz but both are guaranteed Bluetooth connection and Wi-Fi for data sharing, with an optimized connection to the Canon cloud platform.

With the new EOS, Canon is also launching three new accessories, a larger capacity battery, a battery grip that increases camera usage time, and a Wi-Fi transmitter and 2×2 MIMO antennas for broader transmission.

The EOS R5 hits stores in late July and the EOS R6 only in August. The base prices of the machines are 4,699 and 2,849 euros, respectively, but there are packages combined with lenses that can be considered, namely for the EOS R6 with the RF24-105, which has a cost of 3,249 euros.
