Casino Lisboa receives Maria Viana with the best jazz on the 26th and 27th

With an unprecedented proposal of live music, Casino Lisboa will receive Maria Viana and George Esteves on the 26th and 27th of November, at 8 pm. In a voice and piano duet, Maria Viana and George Esteves take the central stage of the Arena Lounge, ensuring a judicious repertoire with the best jazz sounds.

Maria Viana’s sublime voice accompanied by George Esteves’ mastery at the piano promise two intimate shows, not to be missed, at the Casino Lisboa Arena Lounge.

Maria Viana is one of the best and most renowned vocal jazz interpreters. With a national and international career that more than 40 years, the jazz singer has already been distinguished with prestigious awards such as, for example, the Medal of Cultural Merit of the Municipality of Cascais.

Born in Lisbon, Maria Viana was born on March 17, 1958. She fell in love very early on in the musical world: between 1977 and 1985 she joined the first Portuguese Girlsband: the “Cocktail“, while, at the same time, singing Bossa Nova, Jazz and Blues in small formations with international musicians.

It was in 1984 that Maria Viana decided to embark on a career in Jazz. His solo debut before the public and the critics of the specialty took place at the mythical “Cascais Jazz Festival“ (XIV edition, Parque Palmela, Estoril, Portugal). Between 2001 and 2010 she toured around the country, but also in Italy, France, Denmark, Sweden, and Angola.

Participated in numerous recordings and edited four discographic works in her own name: “Just Friends/Entre Amigos” (Timelles Records, Holanda 1992), “Espírito do Tempo” (1999) and “Terra Prometida” (2005). In 2010, the book/CD celebrating her 30 years of career “Maria Viana 30 Years of Jazz” (Editora Principia – Casa Sassetti) was published. Maria Viana participated in several programs on RTP in the 80s and 90s.

Throughout the 90s and 2000s she made a series of Concerts taking Jazz to the most varied stages of the country and the world. Since 2011, Maria Viana is also President of the “Jam Session” Associação Cultural (non-profit), and runs the Cascais Jazz Club (next to the bay of the village of Cascais), where some of the most important names in Jazz have passed National and international.
