CENA brings together women directors on one stage

This Thursday, the first edition of CENA – Mostra de Films directed by women started in Praia. The event brings together several women directors on a single stage, to show their work and share their experiences in this area.

After the opening, which was marked by some speeches, films were shown, and a conversation session with the filmmakers followed.

Three of the ten guests did not attend this event. According to the organizer, Chissana Magalhães, the intention is to make more editions after this first Scene.

According to filmmaker Júlio Silvão, who was present at the opening session, the Cape Verde Film and Audiovisual Association is available to continue building partnerships with this type of event.

In this edition, the organization decided to honor the filmmaker Claire Andrade, of Cape Verdean origin who lives in the United States of America.

The two-day event, which ends today, aims to give visibility to Cape Verdean filmmakers and inspire more women to move into the cinema and audiovisual field.

In this edition, CENA will feature films directed by eight women, including short and feature films, documentaries and fiction.
