Cunha Alves Collection at the Museu do Oriente

The Cunha Alves Collection with about 200 pieces of porcelain from the 17th to the 19th centuries will be exhibited for the first time in the Museum of the Orient, in Lisbon, from May 9.

It is one of the largest and most complete collections of Chinese porcelain exports in Europe, according to the museum, and is part of the permanent exhibition dedicated to the Portuguese presence in Asia.

Diplomat and collector Paulo Cunha Alves acquired this collection over 25 years, with acquisitions in countries such as Portugal, United States, France, Netherlands, Belgium, United Kingdom and Australia.

The collection of the Museum of the East now has more than 17 thousand pieces of countries from the east.
