CVRL approved the Lisbon Wine Route as an integral part of the Commission

The General Counsel of the Lisbon Region Wine Commission (CVRL) approved this Monday, July 7, its new statutes, which establishes the Lisbon Wine Route as an integral part of the Commission, in an inclusive and participatory model.

This is a moment of great affirmation in the Demarcated Wine Region of Lisbon, as it is a decision taken unanimously which shows the willingness and determination of everyone to embrace this strategic axis of intervention.

It is in wine tourism that we find the most opportunities for the sector to grow in value and that is why we are going to call the Municipalities, wine bars, restaurants, hotels, tourism and tourist entertainment to work with us, integrating the Strategic Route Council which will have the mission of:

  • Encourage structured dialogue between all agents working within the theme;
  • Set benchmarks for each industry and the respective conditions for companies to join the Lisbon Wine Route;
  • Foster synergies and concerted actions to boost wine tourism and its integrated promotion and dissemination;
  • Encourage the creation of wine tourism products, to be included in the Lisbon Wine Route, linking wine to the valences of the territory and defining the signage in public space and for adhering establishments.

Over the next 3 years, countless activities are planned throughout the territory, adding wine to culture, heritage and gastronomy, and which we intend to become a hub for all public and private agents working on this theme.

All of this work is based on an ambitious investment plan, which will be leveraged by the European funds of the Centro 2020 program, which once again will help to give more traction and muscle to this project.

The Lisbon Wine Region has 30 wine tourism projects operating fully and in a structured manner, providing a diversified and differentiating service portfolio ranging from a wine tasting commented by the producer with views of the vineyards to accommodation in rural areas , passing through the possibility of getting married in the vineyards and wineries, until horseback riding or the experiences related to the harvests and activities in the wineries.
