Director General of the European Commission and Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education visit Altran

Altran Portugal today hosted the visit of the Director General of the European Commission, Khalil Rouhana, and the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, at its Porto facility.

The initiative started with a welcome message from Célia Reis, CEO of Altran Portugal and Rodrigo Maia, CTO and responsible for Technology and Innovation of the multinational. Afterwards, the guests made a brief tour of the facilities, where they had the opportunity to get to know some of the projects in the automotive area that Altran develops, from Portugal, for its customers in the automotive sector.

Khalil Rouhana, Director General of the European Commission, refers to Altran Portugal as a dynamic company that has seen “amazing growth” in the last five years and is on the right track for research and development, with a very dynamic environment for innovation and an ecosystem that meets European objectives, “I leave here impressed,” says the official.

Manuel Heitor, Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, reinforces: “We are in this visit with one of the leaders in the construction of the European networks of artificial intelligence, to ensure that this growth process and the effort made, namely by Altran, is designed in a European context. We certainly want a Europe with more Portugal, and a Portugal with more Europe, attracting not only European funds but above all ways to create more and better jobs in the digital area.

For Célia Reis, Altran Portugal’s CEO, the balance of the meeting “is very positive” and also states that “we should all be proud of the work that has been developed, not only Altran but Portugal.” According to the CEO of Altran Portugal, the multinational will “continue to focus on innovation and knowledge in our national and international growth plan”.

Carlos Morais-Pires, Co-ordinator of the Strategic Research Program of the European Commission, Colette Maloney, Director of the European Commission’s Electronic Industry Competitiveness Unit, Fernando Freire de Sousa, President of CCDR-Norte, Ana Cristina Neves of the Foundation for Science and Technology, João Mil-Men and Marta Candeias of ANI – Agência Nacional de Inovação.
