The 17th edition of DocLisboa presents various world views through a vast program that includes two retrospectives: Rise and Fall of the Wall – East German Cinema, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall; and Jocelyne Saab, who illustrates the journey of the Lebanese filmmaker, photographer, journalist and intellectual, a unique figure in contemporary cinema.
Of the many exhibitions featured in the opening and closing sessions: Long Night, by Eloy Enciso and Technoboss, by João Nicolau, which premiered at the Locarno Festival. The Heart Beat section, dedicated to the cinematic exhibition of the most varied artistic aspects, will feature a world premiere Zé Pedro Rock’n’Roll, by Diogo Varela Silva, a film about Zé Pedro, the legendary guitarist of the Xutos e Pontapés and one of the main figures of the Portuguese rock’n’roll.
Also noteworthy is the premiere of Teresa Villaverde’s short film, Où en êtes-vous, Teresa Villaverde ?, commissioned by the Pompidou Center. In addition to the movie screenings there are also debates, workshops and a program dedicated to the young.
