A marriage between the choir girl and the restless ex-bored boy would be as unlikely as the two to get together for an indigent musical encounter.
With very different musical careers that travel, from forever Toni Fortuna, from the frenetic rock n roll of “d3o” and the cinematic songs of “Mancines” to the explosive urban Africa of the solo project of “Selma Uamusse” or intimate music from “Rodrigo Leão”, to whom she has also lent her voice since 2014. The meeting point of these two figures was given by divine grace and work in the spiritual world of gospel music.
KNOT3 is therefore like a 3-fold cord where two singers with a very sharp performative side leave their “I” to indulge in a 3rd divine love and marriage, on stage and outside. Electronics, guitars, keyboards … the body, the soul, and the voices will certainly be the main instruments of this project that arises at the insistence of the friend and broadcaster Nuno Calado, who invites them to make their debut at the Indigente Live Festival in October 2019.
From Atomic are a band that was born in Coimbra, in 2018, for the idea of Alberto Ferraz to challenge Sofia Leonor to do something together, to which Márcio Paranhos joins, thus forming the atomic nucleus.
Its sound reflects influences from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Jesus, Mary Chain, Cocteau Twins, The Cure, DIIV, Siouxsie, The Banshees, Joy Division, The Raveonettes or Sonic Youth, looking for a lot of the British post punk of the 80s, but also something of the indie noise of the next decade. However, when listening to From Atomic we find a sound with its own brand, raw but firmly supported by pop melodies.
The urgency of the words with which Sofia Leonor (voice and bass) challenges us, exposes the minimalist narrative that fuses in the noisy melodies of Alberto Ferraz (guitar). The cycle closes with an addictive and ferocious rhythmic foundation, in charge of Márcio Paranhos (drums), which frames an atmosphere that is both black and luminous.
