EDP Comercial is challenging its customers to join the company and provide a happier and fuller Christmas to needy families. Through Planeta Zero, launched in the Zero app, it is already possible to sign up to offer Christmas food baskets to families supported by the Associação Movimento Defesa da Vida (MDV) and ENTRAJUDA.
Customers will be able to choose the family they want to support and know the age of the children to, if they so wish, personalize their offer and add toys or other gifts.
For each basket attributed, EDP Comercial will donate another, in order to support more families. When delivering your donation at one of MDV’s points, the customer will earn Zs, Generation Zero points that allow them to join exclusive offers and discounts on sustainable partners, with news every week.
This is one of the Christmas initiatives of the recent Zero app which, in less than three months, has already been downloaded by 250 thousand people, and which aims to be the reference program in Portugal for promoting sustainability.
From the beginning of December and for four weeks, users of Planeta Zero will also be able to choose the Private Social Solidarity Institutions (IPSS) that will receive energy improvement works, in the amount of eight thousand euros each. To do this, they must vote every week at one of the three institutions presented.
The most voted weekly will have improvements in air conditioning, changing windows, replacing lighting systems with efficient alternatives, among other services, according to needs. With this challenge, EDP Comercial intends to improve the housing conditions of many of these institutions, estimating that, in Portugal, energy poverty still affects the home of two million people.
Maintaining the link between sustainability and social support, EDP Comercial also joined Pinheiro Bombeiro, who already donates five euros for the purchase of fire protection material. This Christmas, for each pine tree rented by customers, through a code generated by App Zero, another one will be donated to IPSS across the country, in order to light up the Christmas of needy elderly people and children without a family.
All these initiatives can be found at Planeta Zero, which over the next few weeks will also have free Christmas-themed workshops, as well as tips and challenges of circular economy and sustainability linked to Christmas, in order to make this season greener and with less waste . New discounts will also be made available to local producers and partners that promote the circular economy.
