Final at home was not enough for Portugal to make history. Spain effective and with a ‘wall’ at the goal.
The Portuguese women’s futsal selection was on the verge of the dream of winning the European Championship. This Sunday, against neighbouring Spain, the Portuguese warriors failed to counter Spanish effectiveness and ended up defeated (0-4). In a final disputed in the Pavilion Multiusos of Gondomar, and that counted on a full house, it was Spain that took the best one.
The goals of the Spanish team were pointed by Mayte, Anita, Romero and Sotelo. However, the biggest highlight has to be given Silvia Aguete.
The Spanish guard was a real wall for the attacks of the Portuguese team and ended up finishing the game with the ‘clean sheet’.
In the last minutes, the national team tried everything to reverse the result, but the final whistle even dictated the conquest of Spain of what is the first European championship in the women’s category.
Note for the performance of the Spanish team in this European played in Portugal. In five games, Spain won a few more and accumulated a balance of 35 goals scored and only one suffered.
