European qualification for Women’s Handball World Cup postponed to March

The European Handball Federation (EHF) has postponed the qualifying matches for the Spain 2021 World Championship, in which Portugal participated, until March next year.

The FPA reports that the growing difficulties in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic regarding the organization of these games for all parties involved led to the decision.

The games of the five groups were scheduled to be played between December 4th and 6th, since all groups are played in tournament format and not as ‘home and away’ matches, now being played from March 19th to 21st 2021.

Also according to the FPA, the selection stage A, scheduled for the dates before the qualification, was also canceled.
