Eurovision Song Contest will have a North American version from 2021

The North American version of the Eurovision Song Contest will bring artists face-to-face with representatives from other states in a series of five to ten televised Qualifying Competitions, towards the Semifinals and the Grand Final.

In preparation for the televised competition, the production team in the United States will create an academy, a group that includes music professionals based in the United States, representative of all genres and backgrounds.

The 65th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, which should have taken place this year, will take place in May 2021 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The semifinals were scheduled for May 18 and 20 and the final for May 22.

This year’s Eurovision Song Contest was canceled in March, by the European Broadcasting Union, considering that conditions were not met for it to be held, with the participation of competitors from 41 countries, taking into account the covid-19 pandemic.

Last May, the television show “Europe Shine a Light” took place, with testimonies from all those who were candidates for this year’s edition.
