“Maria, a Mãe” | November 12 – December 20, 2020 | Teatro da Trindade INATEL
The Sagrada Família, a rectangular wooden box containing the images of José, Maria, and Jesus, is a small portable oratory. On the left side door are written the names of the subscribers who intend to welcome her home and follow the teachings of the Nazaré family. The cult dates back to the 15th century and exists in residual form in some villages in the country. This oratory is the scenic element common to the three texts that make up The Holy Family by Elmano Sancho: José, the father; Maria, the mother; Jesus, the son.
Maria, the mother, according to a text in the family trilogy, is a text about loss, pain, loneliness, old age, forgetfulness and death.
