FC Porto beats Santa Clara

FC Porto was able to stabilize their game, winning at home 2-0, and beating Benfica in the (provisional) lead of the national championship.

FC Porto signed a more consistent performance than last Sunday and was rewarded with a 2-0 win over Santa Clara at Dragão stadium.

The team led by Sérgio Conceição also solved the game in the first half. Zé Luís headed in 15 minutes into the game, and at the break, César put the ball deep inside his own goal and sealed the final score.

The second half brought a more ‘sassy’ island ensemble, which has tried to react, but to no avail. The game was sometimes too broken, but a much more ‘adult’ dragon was able to take it where it felt most comfortable and to ensure triumph.

FC Porto thus spent the night leading the I Liga with the same 15 points as Benfica. It is up to this Monday, Famalicão to respond to the match and try to beat Sporting to regain the “throne” of the championship.
