Fernando Pimenta reaches the 100th medal with gold in the K1 5000

This Sunday Fernando Pimenta reached the hundredth international medal in his career, when he finished first in the K1 5000 race in the World Cup in Szegeb, in Hungary

In the distance in which he was world champion in 2017 and 2018, and third in 2019, in this same city, Pimenta imposed himself without great difficulties on his rivals, the Hungarians Balint Noe (20m04.59s), second, and Kornel Beke (20m12.02s )., third, by recording a time of 20.03.09 minutes.

With this victory, the Portuguese canoeist closes the event with three podiums, after gold in the K1 1000 and silver in the K1 500.

Silver medal at the London 2012 Games in K2 1,000 meters, alongside Emanuel Silva, Pimenta also has nine medals in Worlds, with one more in the world marathon championship, 16 in Europeans, two in Universiads and four in European Games, in one ‘sample’ of the centenary it completed today.

With gold in K1 1,000 meters and K1 5,000 and silver in K1 500 by Fernando Pimenta, gold in K1 500 and bronze in K1 200 by Joana Vasconcelos and silver in 200 VL2 and bronze in VL2 500 by Norberto Mourão, in Paracanoagem, Portugal added seven ‘metals’ in Szeged.
