Festivities in Douro suspended until the end of June

The Douro municipalities have informed that they will maintain the suspension of cultural and recreational activities and that they will not issue any licenses for parties, pilgrimages and events throughout the territory of CIM Douro.

The decision was taken during the extraordinary meeting of the CIM intermunicipal council, which took place on Friday, by videoconference, and which addressed the covid-19 pandemic, its impact on the region and the work that has been carried out by the municipalities.

Once the existing resources were known, municipality by municipality, as well as the level of preparation of each one for eventual situations of infected with covid-19, it was also unanimously decided that CIM Douro will coordinate human resources, equipment and means to face the outbreak in the region and will act jointly on the ground, whenever justified.

This community includes the municipalities of Alijó, Armamar, Carrazeda de Ansiães, Ash of Espada à Cinta, Lamego, Mesão Frio, Moimenta da Beira, Murça, Penedono, Peso da Régua, Sabrosa, Santa Marta de Penaguião, São João da Pesqueira, Sernancelhe , Tabuaço, Tarouca, Torre de Moncorvo, Vila Nova de Foz Côa and Vila Real, where approximately 200 thousand inhabitants reside
