Filipa Martins takes place at Tokyo Olympics

Portuguese gymnast Filipa Martins, from Acro Clube da Maia, secured a spot at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany.

Filipa Martins, 23, was present at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she obtained the best ever ranking of a Portuguese in artistic gymnastics, finishing the complete contest in 37th position.

The Acro Clube da Maia gymnast achieved the qualification with 49,698 points, a result that in her opinion “could have been much better”, and gave “everything she could”, knowing that the other results no longer depended on her.

The Acro Clube da Maia gymnast reached the 20th place of the places available for the Olympic qualification.
