First festival edition dedicated to ‘hip-hop’ in August in Gavião

A small river paradise in Comenda, in the Alentejo county of Gavião, hosts the first edition of Beat Fest, a festival dedicated to hip-hop, which includes Piruka, Slow J, Mundo Segundo & Sam the Kid and Eva Rap Diva.

Between August 2 and 5, along the Ribeira da Venda river beach, there will be, according to the organization of the initiative, a “blend of nature with urban spirit”, with the “celebration” of hip-hop culture.

The headliners of the first edition of the festival are Piruka ‘rappers’ on August 3, Slow J on 04, and Second World & Sam the Kid on 05.

The Beat Fest begins on August 2 with a party “to welcome in large all those who choose to camp in this small river paradise”, with performances by DJ Gijoe, Króniko, Sacik Brow and the collective Alcohol Club.

On August 3, in addition to Piruka, perform DJ Nel’Assassin, Calculus, Phoenix RDC, Mishlawi and the Grognation. For day 04 are planned the performances, in addition to Slow J, DJ Kwan, TNT and Kappa Jotta. On May 05, in addition to Mundo Segundo & Sam the Kid, DJ Stereosaurus, Holly Hood, Eva Rap Diva and Dillaz.

Between 03 and 05, it will be possible to see the ‘writer’ Youth One, one of the pioneers of ‘graffiti’ in Portugal, to paint live.

The fact that “there is no festival” dedicated to a musical style “much appreciated by the young layer” led the organization, which is divided between Gavião City Hall and an event company, to perform the Beat Fest.

The idea is to “make the festival a reference for lovers of hip-hop culture,” so “if all goes well, it will be repeated every year.”
