Five Portuguese productions of television fiction, documentary and digital reporting are nominated for the 2019 Europa Prize, created by the European Commission and the European Parliament.
The awards are given in nine distinct categories, recognizing fiction productions, documentary, and current television and radio programs, as well as digital media projects.
According to the nominees’ list for this year’s edition, there are several Portuguese productions selected, namely the Radio Online Kids Radio project, created in 2015 and which is a candidate in the Digital Media category.
For the award for best television fiction is nominated the miniseries ‘Soldado Millions’, by Gonçalo Galvão Teles and Jorge Paixão da Costa, shown on RTP, while ‘The Box’, by Sofia Saldanha, broadcast on the digital project Radio Atlas, is nominated for best radio documentary.
In the category of television documentary is indicated ‘Elalab – O Zé wants to know why’, by Sofia da Palma Rodrigues, José Magro and Diogo Cardoso, produced by the digital project Divergente. This same project is named ‘Land of all, land of some’, report by Sofia da Palma Rodrigues, in the category Current Affairs.
The Europe 2019 awards ceremony will take place on October 11 in Postdam, Germany.
The Europe Prize was first awarded in 1987 in Amsterdam by the Council of Europe, the European Parliament, and the European Culture Foundation.
