Football: Chelsea wins Europe

Chelsea beat Arsenal 4-1 and is the winner of the Europa League.

Chelsea won the Europa League on Wednesday in Baku after beating Arsenal 4-1. Giroud (49 ‘), Pedro (60’) and Hazard (65 ‘and 72’) all scored in the second half.

Arsenal got the better of the match: well organized, with the lesson well studied and focused on stopping Chelsea from going out to play.

Everything seemed to go as planned and Xhaka still startled Kepa in the 28th minute. However, the break brought a completely different Chelsea and the meaning of the game was different.

It began with Giroud’s betrayal. The former Arsenal player took advantage of an excellent cross to ‘dive’ in a header that opened the scoring (49 ‘).

The blues were more cohesive and dynamic, managing to turn the opponent’s strategy against himself. The departure from here was like the ‘ketchup’. Pedro Rodriguez made the second (60 ‘), with Hazard in the assist.

Arsenal still tried to react, but Niles was unhappy and ended up committing a penalty on Giroud. In the conversion, Hazard did not hesitate (65 ‘).

Emery still ‘pulled a rabbit out of his hat’ as he launched Iwobi, who jumped off the bench to make it 3-1 in the 69th minute. However, it was the sun of little hard. Hazard (again Hazard) wanted to say goodbye and with Giroud to help – who else? – threw for the fourth and last goal of the game (72 ‘).

From here, Chelsea managed the duel until the final whistle without great difficulties, with Arsenal also no longer able to respond in a more offensive way.

Chelsea eleven: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Christensen, David Luiz, Emerson, Kanté, Jorginho, Kovacic; Peter, Giroud, Hazard.

Eleven of the Arsenal: Petr Cech; Kolašinac, Papastathopoulos, Koscielny, and Nacho; Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Lucas, Xhaka, and Özil; Aubameyang and Lacazette
