In a list of the best countries to take advantage of the reform, Portugal appears in 22nd position.
The US magazine Forbes chose Portugal as one of the best destinations to live the retirement in 2019. In a list with 24 countries, Portugal appears in the 22nd-second position, ‘painted’ with an image of the Algarve coast.
The rationale for Portugal to be included in the list is related to the climate, with the relatively low cost of living for retired people and also because of the low crime rate.
Forbes magazine also highlights the tax treaty between Portugal and the US that prevents double taxation, which “draws” many Americans to the Algarve or even to Lisbon.
This Forbes ranking is led by Argentina, Australia and Belize, in this order, in the top three places. You can consult Forbes full list here.
