Frederico Silva in the second round of the Bangalore challenger

Portuguese tennis player Frederico Silva advanced today to the second round of the ‘challenger’ from Bangalore, India, by defeating the Egyptian Karim-Mohamed Maamoun, in three ‘sets’.

Frederico Silva, 193rd world tennis player, seemed headed for an easy triumph in the first round of the Indian tournament, after winning the first partial by 6-1, but allowed his opponent, 365th in the ATP ranking, to give him break the service in the fourth game of the second set.

Silva still managed a ‘counter-break’ in the seventh game of that end, but immediately suffered a ‘break’, losing the ‘set’ 6-3. The setback did not affect the most accredited Portuguese, who prevailed with an expressive 6-0 in the final partial, celebrating the victory after an hour and 41 minutes on the court.

In the second round of the challenger from Bangalore, the national number four will face Belgian Kimmer Coppejans, 153th player in the world hierarchy, who had ‘bye’ in the first round.
