The Algarve Nature Fest, which will take place over the weekend in Olhão, will offer more than 30 free activities, including sailing baptisms, diving and boat and bike rides, the organization announced today.
The official inauguration of the event takes place today, with the participation of 300 children from schools of Olhão in the activities available on the site, on the city’s riverside promenade, but the main activities are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
According to Fátima Catarina, vice-president of the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA), which organizes the event in partnership with the Municipality of Olhão (Faro district), the activities subject to the reservation have 540 people registered and are already sold out. However, there are complementary activities permanently in the room.
On the Olhão riverside promenade, between 09:00 and 19:00, you can visit an exhibition with local products, but also slide, climb, mechanical surf, archery, kayak, segway or mountain bike. all-terrain, among other activities, subject to equipment availability.
According to Fátima Catarina, the forecasts point to 26 million trips already in 2020, aiming at nature tourism throughout Europe.
The main markets for this type of tourist are the English, Dutch, French, and German, and there was an increase in demand for this sector in the low season, he said.
The official also said that the Algarve Nature Fest is an event with environmental concerns, which means that, among other actions, all waste produced will be sent for recycling.
The event brings together approximately 30 companies related to nature tourism and also has the support of the Directorate General of Establishments.
This year’s edition of the Algarve Nature Fest features a revamped concept, with a three-day program and free activities.
For the last four years, the event, formerly called Algarve Nature Week, had a longer duration and the experiences were paid for.
