French cinemateca shows fantastic Portuguese cinema

Five Portuguese short films, from the universe of fantastic cinema, will be screened at a session on Monday at the French Cinematheque in Paris.

Scheduled by the MoteLX festival, the session features recent short films, which were in competition at this festival and inspired, almost all, in literary works.

The session at the French Cinematheque begins with Guilherme Daniel’s “The Strange House in the Mist”, a film inspired by a story by HP Lovecraft and awarded this year at MoteLx, and continues with “The installation of fear”, a black comedy by Ricardo Leite, inspired by a work by Rui Zink and done in a school context.

They are also joined by ‘Heart revealing’, the second short film by actress and director São José Correia, from a short story by Edgar Allen Poe, and ‘The bad girl’ by Ricardo Machado, from a narrative of Gonçalo M. Tavares.

Closing, ‘Thursday Night’ by Gonçalo Ferreira de Almeida, a thriller starring two dogs and inspired by the album ‘Thursday Afternoon’ by Brian Eno, and awarded at MoteLX in 2017.

In the session in Paris will be the directors Ricardo Leite and Daniel Guilherme, for a conversation with the public.

The initiative of the festival MoteLX takes place in partnership with Instituto Camões, with Paris being the last stage of the MOTELX On Tour, a program of exhibitions of Portuguese short films that this year went through Brazil and Luxembourg.
