Until March 1, an international call is open for participation in Linha de Fuga – International Laboratory for Artistic Creation which presents for this year’s theme the rethinking of the concept of democracy, taking into account the current political trends in the world.
Between May 30 and June 21, 2020, in different spaces in the city of Coimbra, LINHA DE FUGA returns with the second edition of an international laboratory that aims to promote the meeting between creators, artists and thinkers from different countries, conceived as a field experimentation, learning and sharing of individual and collective knowledge.
It takes place through theoretical-practical creative seminars and workshops for the exchange of artistic practices, conducted by national and foreign artists invited for this purpose.
The artists of the second edition of LINHA DE FUGA who, along with the festival program, will direct seminars and workshops are Alain Michard (FR), Alex Cassal & Má Criação (BR / PT), Jonathan Uliel Saldanha (PT), Paloma Calle & Massimiliano Casu (ESP / ITA), Panaíbra Gabriel (MZ), Tânia Carvalho (PT) and Vera Mantero (PT).
As in the 2018 edition, the laboratory is aimed at arts professionals with a minimum creative career and no age limit. We are looking for artists who want to start, develop and present their projects in a dynamic process of interaction with constructive criticism directed at their work by their peers and the public. The conditions and the application form are available here.
From this call, 18 participants/creators will be selected with a project under development, which may be in different stages and will be the object of study/expansion throughout the period of the laboratory or, alternatively, with an action proposal that should consider the construction of the common good in society.
The call includes two places for documenters, whose role will be to accompany the entire laboratory, from a subjective and critical perspective whose intention is to give society back its vision of documentation of the ephemeral, alongside the knowledge transmission practices developed from of this epicentre.
The international creative laboratory is an initiative of Linha de Fuga – Associação Cultural, in co-production with Citemor – Montemor-o-Velho Theater Festival and Teatrão and in partnership with several entities in the city: Teatro Académico Gil Vicente, Jazz to the Center, Casa das Artes Bissaya Barreto, Circle of Plastic Arts of Coimbra, Center for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra and Muncipal Chamber of Coimbra / Convento de São Francisco.
