Gastronomic Fortnight of Aguardente DOC Lourinhã between 12 and 22 November

The 9th edition of the Fortnightly Gastronomy of Aguardente DOC Lourinhã takes place from 12 to 22 November. Promoted by the Municipality of Lourinhã, in partnership with the producers Adega Cooperativa da Lourinhã and with several catering establishments, the initiative aims to, once again, promote what is considered one of the three best spirits in the world.

The distinction DOC Denomination of Controlled Origin – is attributed to spirits that comply with and apply the regulation that establishes the conditions of the soil, the characteristics of cultivation and technologies of vinification, conservation, distillation, aging and bottling that must be followed for obtained production can use the mention DOC “Lourinhã”, attributed by the Lisbon Regional Wine Commission created by the ordinance 739/2008.

As in previous years, Aguardente DOC Lourinhã is once again the highlight of a diverse list of gastronomic dishes created especially for the event, which can be tasted in 17 participating restaurants in the demarcated region.

In addition, to mark the gastronomic fortnight in an original way, the Municipality of Lourinhã challenged Wine on Ice, an ice cream company whose main ingredient is Portuguese wines and gin, to create an ice cream with the brandy DOC Lourinhã.

Formed by three young entrepreneurs, Wine on Ice, aspires to be the reference alcoholic ice cream brand in Portugal, having therefore established a partnership with Chef António Vieira who signs all the ice creams of the brand.

The official presentation of the ice cream will be on November 12, at 5 pm, at the premises of the Adega Cooperativa da Lourinhã, and will be attended by João Torres – Secretary of State for Commerce, Services and Consumer Protection.

Due to the current scenario, the number of people at the event will be reduced and upon presentation of an invitation, however, the launch of the ice cream will be broadcast live on the Lourinhã Municipality’s Facebook.
