Glenn Miller Orchestra fills CCB with hits

Once again the Grand Auditorium of the Centro Cultural de Belém sold out to listen to the Glenn Miller Orchestra, on its return to Portugal.

Directed by Maestro Ray McVay, the 15-element band and the sublime voices of Catherine Sykes and Mark Porter took us on a journey through time until the 1930s. The band formed in 1937 by Glenn Miller became very popular with his Jazz and Swing.

The Band also acted with American and allied troops. In fact, it is on his crossing to Paris, in 1944, when he was going to perform for the Allied Forces, that Glenn Miller died in a plane crash.

The band is then directed by Tex Beneke, saxophonist and close friend of Miller. Years later the family hires American Air Force drummer Ray McVay to direct the band’s destinies.

McVay continues to enchant generations to this day, with themes like “Moon Light Serenade”, “In the Mood”, “Tuxedo Junction”, “Perfidia”, “New York, New York”, “Pennsylvania 6-5000” or “American Patrol”.
