This project is supported by the analytics platform, developed by Accenture.
With unemployment surpassing historic highs worldwide due to COVID-19, a group of organizations from various industries came together to create People + Work Connect, an initiative that aims to bring together, on a free platform, companies that had to dismiss or suspend the activities of their employees, with other entities that urgently need to hire workers.
This project was designed and developed by the executives of the Human Resources areas of Accenture, Lincoln Financial Group, ServiceNow and Verizon, on a platform developed by Accenture. From the conception to the launch of this platform, it took just 14 working days, already adding a wide variety of organizations.
People + Work Connect has several leading companies in the market such as ADM, Baxter, Blue Apron, Cargill, Frito-Lay, Lincoln Financial Group, Marriott, Mondelēz International, Nordstrom, ServiceNow, Walmart and Zenefit and 250 more are expected. companies to come together over the next week. Soon, the platform will also integrate offers from the Public Administration sector.
This initiative managed to quickly scale the participation of companies due to the support and commitment of organizations such as the Business Roundtable, the Center for Advanced Studies in Human Resources at the ILR School at Cornell University, the Center for Executive Succession at the Darla Moore School of Business, Gallup and CHRO Roundtable, HR Policy Association, Institute for Corporate Productivity, National Academy of Human Resources, Society for Human Resource Management and World50.
Through this platform, it is possible for companies to quickly share the experience and skills of employees who have been dismissed or who have had their work suspended and who communicate them, at no extra cost, to companies they are recruiting. The platform is global and transversal to several industries, in order to maximize the ability to transfer people with similar skills from a falling sector to other sectors and where new job opportunities are being created. The platform, based on an analytics-driven solution, groups non-confidential information from workers into categories, such as place of residence or professional experience.
One of the main objectives of the Human Resources executives who lead People + Work Connect is the creation of a collaborative and inclusive community that helps to quickly incorporate the unemployed existing in the labour market, in areas that currently represent new opportunities.
“People + Work Connect was designed to reduce the economic and social impact of this virus, by providing real-time visibility of companies that need employees, and their positions, helping us to work together and make a difference in the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, “explains Ellyn Shook, Accenture’s Chief Leadership and Human Resources Officer.
“Life is filled with many important moments and some are more difficult than others. People remember who helped them through difficult times, ”says Lisa M. Buckingham, Executive Vice President and Chief People, Place and Brand Officer at Lincoln Financial Group. “A small group of Human Resources executives came together because they share the same passion. We want to ensure that we – and the companies we represent – will be remembered for the support we gave the community in this difficult time, with compassion and a sense of responsibility that go beyond our business area.”
Pat Wadors, Chief Talent Officer at ServiceNow, notes that “the crisis has led to a massive increase in unemployment rates, people need help to find work. By directly connecting companies that are hiring with the available workforce, technology is effectively working for people. By working together, we can quickly make a significant impact with those who need it most. ”
“While the current pandemic has been the driving force behind the creation of People + Work Connect, we hope that this type of collaboration will become the norm in the future,” concludes Christy Pambianchi, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Verizon. “Now is the time to create a more resilient workforce, for today and tomorrow.”
