Gnration reopens with Mário Costa and Andy Sheppard

In this return to activity, gnration presents a bimonthly cultural program, in contrast to the usually adopted quarterly periodicity, an alteration imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The program for July and August, in addition to the jazz cycle, also includes the 5th edition of ‘Cinema no Pátio’, a new exhibition by Portuguese artist and researcher Diogo Tudela and eight artistic residencies from the winning projects of the support program to the artistic creation ‘Summer Laboratories’.

In ‘Julho é de Jazz’, on the 10th, the quartet formed by saxophonists Rodrigo Amado and Ricardo Toscano, with João Lencastre (drums) and Hernâni Faustino (double bass) acts.On the 17th, pianist João Paulo Esteves da Silva and drummer Pedro Melo Alves will take the stage.

The closing of the cycle, on the 24th, will be up to Lokomotiv, a group founded and led by bassist Carlos Barretto, and which also includes Mário Delgado (guitar) and José Salgueiro (drums and percussions).Also for the month of July, the gnration gallery will host, as of July 3, a new exhibition by the Portuguese artist and researcher Diogo Tudela.

In August, gnration will once again receive open-air cinema sessions, with the fifth edition of “Cinema no Pátio”, which will present, in this period after confinement, four films that focus on the trip as one of the essential matrixes of art cinematographic, since its genesis.

Roberto Rossellini’s’ Journey to Italy ‘(1954), Andrei Tarkovsky’s’ Nostalgia’ (1983), Christian Petzold’s’ In Transit ‘(2018), and Wim Wenders” Running With Time ‘(1975) , are the four feature films that the public will be able to watch free of charge on the nights of August 6, 13, 20 and 27, respectively.

The exhibitions start at 9:30 pm and take place in the outer courtyard of the gnration.

Throughout July and August, gnration will also host eight artistic residences resulting from the artistic creation support program “Laboratórios de Verão”, an initiative aimed at artists or collectives in the district of Braga who intend to develop original artistic content in the fields of music, art and technology.
