GoldLink joins Super Bock Super Rock lineup

GoldLink is one of the most exciting and promising names in hip hop made today. The American rapper does not miss an opportunity to take a chance and venture into more alternative territories.

The young D’Anthony Carlos started by presenting himself as Gold Link James and that’s how he started to show up, sharing some of his tracks online and guaranteeing a good number of followers from an early age. Despite the success, the young musician paused on his journey and returned with all his might in 2013, already with the GoldLink signature.

The songs shared by the rapper on the SoundCloud platform were increasingly heard, which drew the attention of names such as producer Kaytranada and the Danish Galimatias. In 2014 he edited the first mixtape, “The God Complex”, and soon received praise from the public and critics, who considered this record as one of the best mixtapes published in 2014.

In the following year, he started working with producer Rick Rubin, one of the strongest influences in the consolidation of his musical language and in his next mixtape: “And After That, We Didn’t Talk”. The success of these releases led GoldLink to sign for RCA, the North American publisher that would come to edit his first album in 2017: “At What Cost”.

With the participation of names like Wale, Shy Glizzy, Steve Lacy, Jazmine Sullivan, Kaytranada, Mýa, Brent Faiyaz, the record is fixed in the musical history of your city, Washington, DC, and GoldLink seems very comfortable within that tradition. “Crew”, the single from the disc, which includes the appearances Brent Faiyaz and Shy Glizzy, was a success to the point of being nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Rap/Best Interpretation.

And the Grammy would even arrive a year later, thanks to the collaboration with Christina Aguilera on the theme “Like I Do”. The second album, “Diaspora”, released in 2019, has Pusha T; Tyler, the Creator; Khalid and Wizkid as guests and is another pearl to be enjoyed by the Portuguese public, also live, at the 26th edition of Super Bock Super Rock – and this meeting is now scheduled for July 16, 2021, on the EDP Stage of Super Bock Super Rock.
