Google has announced that the RCS messaging service available on Android will now have end-to-end encryption, meaning that users will enjoy greater security and privacy in their communications.
This capability is not yet ready but will be made available to certain users during the beta phase. This trial period will start this month and will reach more users in early 2021.
In addition to encryption, Google has announced that the RCS messaging system is now available globally. With the ability to exchange photos and video in better quality, reading receipts and reactions to messages it is clear that this Google service is in a better position to compete with rivals like WhatsApp, Messenger and Telegram.
