Belgian footballer Eden Hazard, who has been recruited by Real Madrid from Chelsea this season, has now been named the best player in the 2018/19 Europa League, on the sidelines of the draw in Monaco.
The Portuguese João Félix, who replaced Benfica for Atletico Madrid, is in the seventh position in the list of the most voted players, in an election in which the 48 coaches of the clubs that played in the group stage and 55 journalists participated.
Eden Hazard, 29, one of the main successors of the English Europa League winners Chelsea, succeeds Frenchman Antoine Griezmann (FC Barcelona), who was honored in 2018 at the time of Atletico Madrid.
Recovering from a leg injury, Hazard has not yet made his Real Madrid debut.
The midfielder was competing for the award with former 32-year-old Chelsea team-mate Olivier Giroud and 21-year-old Real Madrid team-mate Luka Jovic, who represented Eintracht Frankfurt’s German side last season.
Eden Hazard was in the spotlight in the final Europa League final in Baku, Azerbaijan, as he assisted and scored twice in the 4-1 defeat by Arsenal.
