Hélder Silva in the final of C1 200 and three boats in the ‘semi-finals’

Hélder Silva canoeed today directly for the C1 final 200 meters of the II European Games, while the two K1 and K2 women go to the semi-finals of the 200, still today.

The Olympic athlete Hélder Silva won his series in the canoes in 40,128, beating Russian Ivan Styhl by 232 thousandths and Ukrainian Oleh Boroviyk by 452.

The final of Hélder Silva takes place on Thursday at 12:20 (Lisbon time).

In the semi-finals, this afternoon will be Francisca Laia and Hugo Rocha, respectively, fourth and seventh in their qualifiers, as well as K2 Joana Vasconcelos/Teresa Portela, fifth-placed.

Portuguese canoeing already has a medal, won today by Fernando Pimenta, in K1 1,000, to 112 thousandths of the gold of Hungary.

On Thursday, Pimenta disputed the direct final of K1 5,000 at 14:30, distance on which was also silver in Baku2015.

Finally at 08:20 for K4 500 David Varela/Emanuel Silva/João Ribeiro/Messias Baptista, and at 09:05, for K4 500 Joana Vasconcelos/Teresa Portela/Francisca Laia/Francisca Carvalho.

The Portuguese team has 10 medals at the II European Games, with one gold, Carlos Nascimento, in the 100 meters, and five silver, achieved by: team of mixed race judo, cyclist Nelson Oliveira (counter), acrobatic gymnasts Bárbara Sequeira, Francisca Maia and Francisca Sampaio Maia, in combined and dynamic exercise, and Fernando Pimenta in K1 1000.

In the balance test, the gymnasts still obtained a bronze medal, also reached by the judoka Telma Monteiro (-57 kg), by the mixed courier of the 4×400 meters and by Diogo Ganchinho on the trampolines.
