Hugo Pinto wins the 18th edition of the Arouca Film Festival with ‘A escritora’

This is Hugo Pinto’s third film, which made “TU” in 2016 and “Espelho Meu” in 2018.

The work talks about the close connection between genius and depressive illness, in the shoes of a rising writer, pregnant with twins and with emotional conflicts with her husband.

In the story, Alice, the protagonist, suffers from the urge to write, unable to stop the verbal flow that plagues her. Along with her fight against the disease, her conflicting relationship with her husband appears.

The Silver Slate will go to Russia, after Radik Kudoyarov’s film “The Gift” is recognized as the festival’s second best film, while in the Covid Movies category, dedicated to works produced during the confinement period, the winner was the film Brazilian “Diário do Isolamento 121”, by Elder Fraga, revealed the organization.

In total, during the week, 58 films from various countries were in competition in Arouca.
