Access to drinking water is different for everyone in the world. More than 2 billion people lack this resource, jeopardizing their lives and basic needs.
Hydro Wind Energy has created a device, the Quench Sea, which turns salt water into drinking water.
“Two-thirds of the global population live in areas with water scarcity and seven million die each year from water-related diseases,” says Lee King, the company’s director, to Euronews.
For the same reason, the device was developed with the ability to remove bacteria and possible microplastics present in water, and with a structure that is easy to use and durable. Each hour, it is possible to obtain up to three liters of drinking water.
The company will start exporting the product in 2021, and wants to offer more than 100 million units by 2027 to populations in developing countries.
