Intense heat and teleworking increase sales of fans and air conditioners

Thermometers above 35 degrees have caused a rush in the acquisition of air conditioners, as shown by a survey by KuantoKusta, which saw total sales rise 174.42% over the same period last year, with the increase reflected in each type of appliance, in which the demand for air conditioning rose by 150%, and by fan 340%.

According to the platform, another factor responsible for the increase in product purchases was teleworking, which kept 1 million people at home in the second quarter of the year, according to a survey by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

KuantoKusta counted 217,998 queries for articles on the platform and indicates Lisbon, Porto, Almada, Coimbra, Braga and Albufeira as the cities where there is a greater demand for devices, in which the simplest models, such as the case of portable fans and air conditioners, are the choice of most users between 35 and 44 years old.

These figures reveal a new trend in the market since last year the preference was for fixed, wall-mounted devices.

The conversion rate of the partner stores was 4%, which generated around 8720 sales at an average cost of 390 euros for each product purchased and which, according to the survey, kept Whirlpool, Daikin and LG as the preferred brands of customers.

According to experts, temperatures should remain high until the second half of August, mainly in the central regions of the country, such as Trás-os-Montes, Beira, and Alentejo.
