IVDP will ensure the grape harvesting to winegrowers until January 15th

The Harvest Notice in the Douro Demarcated Region changes the payment method for grapes suitable for the Douro appellation of origin and Duriense geographical indication, now passing the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto, I.P. (IVDP) to be the intermediary of this transaction.

The IVDP proposal, already approved by the Interprofessional Council, aims to avoid delays in payments to winegrowers, but also to avoid some advantages in fixing the price of grapes resulting from these delays.

Buyers of grapes make their payment to winegrowers, by bank transfer to the IVDP, indicating the amounts and amounts to be paid to each of the winegrowers”, explains Gilberto Igrejas, president of the IVDP.

The Institute thus wants to ensure that the price of the grapes purchased at the harvest is fully paid by the buyers by the 15th of January of the year following the harvest.

We are going to ensure that winegrowers receive until January 15 the sale price of all the grapes they produced, those suitable for Porto, Douro and Duriense, thus standardizing the procedures already adopted for grapes suitable for the Denomination of Origin Porto ”, concludes the same person in charge.
